The Family Council

The land belongs to all of us. Each of us has a part to play. Below is what each member of the family is being asked to do.

Director of Land Operations

Spurgeion Boddie III

Charge: Oversee the physical care of the land — clearing, access, fencing, and timber management.
The Ask: Clear and mark 1.5 acres for the Phase One site. Obtain written authorization from the Trustee before cutting. Document the work with photographs.
Why It Matters: The land must be worked to be kept. This is the first step.

Family Historian

Charge: Gather and preserve the family's history.
The Ask: Collect ten photographs and three written family stories. Share them with the Archive.
Why It Matters: The story is the inheritance. We cannot protect what we cannot remember.

Church & Community Liaison

Charge: Reconnect the family to the Lilly Star District churches and community institutions our parents and family forebears served.
The Ask: Identify three church leaders willing to meet about the Brent Legacy Project.
Why It Matters: Spurgeion Jr. organized through the churches. That network still exists.

Facilities Advisor

Charge: Advise on physical structures — the Learning Center, Makerspace, and Archive building.
The Ask: Review the site plan and provide written feedback on access, utilities, and construction priorities.
Why It Matters: Building right the first time saves money and time.

Coordinator

Charge: Coordinate the project — partnerships, funding, and the Learning Center.
The Ask: Convene the Family Council monthly. Report progress. Keep the record.
Why It Matters: Someone has to hold the thread.
